In a world that often equates blessings with ease and comfort, the concept of Blessings can be misunderstood. Many of us envision a blessing as something that falls effortlessly into our laps, a divine gift that requires no struggle or sacrifice. But the truth is, blessings often look like going to fight a battle to claim what God has promised. This is the journey of every believer who dares to step into their divine calling, transforming from an ordinary individual into a fearless influencer of society.
Take the story of the nation of Israel, for example. When God promised them the land of Canaan, it wasn’t handed to them on a silver platter. The land was flowing with milk and honey, but it was also occupied by giants. Ten of the twelve spies sent to scout the land returned with fear in their hearts, saying, “We saw giants, and we felt like grasshoppers in their presence.” They couldn’t see the blessings because their physical eyes were blinded by the obstacles. Only Joshua and Caleb saw with the eyes of faith, understanding that the battle ahead was part of the blessing.
Even in the wilderness, where God fought for Israel, the people still struggled to see His hand at work. They complained, doubted, and resisted the process. But God was showing them a profound truth: Nothing worth having comes easy, but with Him, victory is assured. This is a lesson for us today. When God speaks, He speaks in the realm of the spirit. He reveals His promises, but that doesn’t mean the journey to fulfillment will be without challenges—especially in a world where the enemy is actively working against us.
I can personally relate to this struggle. There have been many times when God clearly told me, “I have opened a door for you.” Excited and expectant, I would rush to that door, only to find it seemingly closed or blocked by obstacles. Frustration would set in, and I’d start to doubt. “God, did You really open this door? Why does it feel like I’m hitting a wall?” I realized later that I was looking at the situation like the ten spies—expecting the blessing to be handed to me without a fight. I wanted the promise to manifest instantly, without any resistance or effort on my part. But that’s not how baraka works.
This mindset—the expectation that blessings should come easily—is what often blinds us to the very things God is doing in our lives. It’s the reason we feel like God has forgotten us, like He’s withholding His promises. But the truth is, the door was opened. The blessing was there. The problem was my perspective. I was looking with natural eyes, not spiritual ones. I was waiting for the battle to be over before I stepped in, instead of realizing that the battle is the pathway to the blessing.
Consider the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. Satan offered Him the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship. Jesus refused, but how many people succumbs to such offers from the devil? The reality is, there are people who have already pledged allegiance to the enemey and if he can give them kingdoms of the world, it means sometimes he gives them things which are not necessarrily theirs. To reclaim what is rightfully yours, you must understand that spiritual warfare is inevitable. Satan is bold and confident, and he will confront you face to face. But like Jesus, you must stand firm, knowing who you are and what you’ve been called to do.
The truth is, blessings is not always visible to the naked eye. It’s a spiritual reality that requires faith, persistence, and a warrior’s mindset. Many Christians today are discouraged because they don’t see immediate results. We want the promises of God to manifest without the fight. We want to inherit without wrestling, to possess without persevering. But this is not the way of the Kingdom. God’s promises often come with a call to action—a call to step up, to fight, and to trust Him in the process.
Remember, we live in a world where evil often seems to prevail. There are forces at work that seek to dominate and oppress. But as believers, we are called to rise up and confront these forces. We must recognize that there are battles to be fought and territories to be reclaimed. Sometimes, you have to give the enemy two options: either he bows to the authority of Christ in you, or he is destroyed. There is no middle ground.
Blessings are not for the passive or the faint-hearted. It’s for those who are willing to step into the arena, armed with faith and determination. It’s for those who understand that the blessings of God are worth fighting for. So, I challenge you today: Step up. Embrace your identity as a warrior in God’s Kingdom. You may feel small or insignificant, but remember, the God who called you knows what He’s doing. He has a plan for you, and it’s greater than anything you can imagine.
Let us shift our mindset from passive receivers to active warriors. Let us stop expecting blessings to come without a fight and start embracing the battles as part of the journey. When we do this, we become fearless influencers, shining the light of Christ in a dark world. We become living testimonies of God’s faithfulness, proving that with Him, we are more than conquerors.
So, the next time you face a giant or a seemingly insurmountable challenge, remember: Blessings are fought for. And with God on your side, victory is guaranteed. Step into your calling, and watch as God turns your ordinary life into an extraordinary story of courage, faith, and influence.
